  About the chapter:

In this chapter, the divine light shines on the life of the believers to elevate their morality and purify their hearts, words, and deeds. The chapter institutes a code of conduct among the believers that prohibits slander, shuns abominations, promotes piety and compassion, and manages the rights and duties of men and women, husbands and wives, children and adults, and relatives, friends, and neighbors.

  Snippets from the translation:

Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of his light in the heart of the believer is as if there were a niche, and within it a lamp, and the lamp enclosed in glass, the glass, as it were, a large brilliant star, lit from a blessed tree, an olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would glow forth though no fire touched it ... light upon light. Allah guides whom he wills to his light, and Allah sets forth parables for men and Allah knows all things. This lamp is found in houses, which Allah has allowed to be exalted in honor above impurities and idle talk, and His Name shall be celebrated therein with praises and prayers. Glorifying Him therein at the mornings and in the evenings again and again are men whom neither buying nor selling diverts them from the remembrance of Allah, nor from establishing regular prayer with all its rights and its specified times, nor from the payment of regular charity. They fear a day when hearts and eyes will be transformed out of terror.  That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds and add even more for them out of His grace. For Allah provides for whom He wills without measure.  [chapter 24:  35-38]
