About the chapter:
This chapter recounts the stories of prophet Moses with Pharaoh, prophet Abraham with his father, and prophets Noah, Hude, Saleh, Lut, and Shu'aayb with their people and their unified message: "fear Allah, obey me". The prophets were faced with rejection, and those who were forewarned summoned destruction upon themselves. Each story is concluded with: "Verily in this there is a sign, but most of them continue to disbelieve. And indeed, your Lord is Exalted in Might, the Most Merciful."
Snippets from the translation:
And recite to them the story of Abraham. "Behold!" He said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?". They said: "We worship idols and we remain in constant attendance and devotion to them." He said: "Do they hear you or do you hear them when you call on them? Or do they benefit you or harm you?" They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshiping, you and your forefathers before you! For they are enemies to me except the Lord of the worlds: Who created me and He is the one who guides me; And Who feeds me and gives me drink; and when I am sick He is the One Who cures me; and Who causes me to die and then gives me life again; and Who I ardently hope will forgive me sins on the Day of Judgment. Oh my Lord, bestow upon me wisdom and join me with the righteous; and grant me an honorable mention and high renown among later generations; and make one of the inheritors of the garden of bliss; and forgive my father, for he is among those who have gone astray; and do not disgrace me on the day when all will be resurrected, on the day when neither wealth nor son will avail, except him who comes to Allah with a sound, pure and sincere heart."
