  About the chapter:

This chapter presents a magnificent account of the life of prophet Joseph peace upon him that mixes breathtaking storytelling with valuable life lessons. The story begins by saying: “Indeed in Joseph and his brothers, there are signs for inquirers,” and traverses his life as he goes from living with his parents, to banishment in the well, to slavery in Egypt in the home of the nobleman who purchased him, to jail away from the temptations of the nobleman’s wife, and then finally to becoming a minister and reuniting back with his family. Joseph, the prophet, challenged the sorrows and hardships of this world with his beliefs, principals, and morals and prevailed over himself and the world around him. “And Allah has full and control over His affairs, but most of mankind know not.”

  Snippets from the translation:

This is the narrative of that time, when Joseph said to his father: "O my father! In a dream I saw eleven stars, the sun and the moon - I saw them prostrate themselves before me!" He replied: "My son! Do not say any thing about this dream to your brothers, lest they plot an evil scheme against you; for Satan is an open enemy to human beings. It will happen, as you have seen in your dream, that you will be chosen by your Lord for His work. He will teach you how to interpret visions, and will perfect His favor upon you and upon the children of Jacob, as He perfected it upon your forefathers Abraham and Isaac before you. Surely your Lord is Knowledgeable, Wise.  [chapter 12:  4-6]
